Seahawks @ Cardinals Preview

Week 9 - Sunday 6th November 2005

This week sees us matched up against the Cards, so how should we approach this game?

The Cards don't really have much of a rushing attack. Despite the best efforts of both Shipp and Rookie JJ Arrington production has been poor on the ground. With RG Elton Brown out injured don't expect things to improve soon. As their rushing attack is not producing they have to rely on their passing. Both their wide receivers Fitzgerald and Boldin are good, but with Boldin out I would say the Cards are in trouble! When we beat them at Qwest Field we took Warner out of the game and seeing as the Cards have said Warner will start this game I think we need to do more of the same. We all know he's not mobile and if we get to him our DB's will be happy to snag some wayward balls!

Their Defense actually has some good players on there, Bertrand Berry is a pro bowl DE and has 5 sacks this season, They also have a few ex Seahawks there, Huff is their starting MLB and Okeafor is there other DE. No doubt they will want to prove a point, but playing against the number 1 ranked offense will be a daunting task! This years 1st round draft choice will be missing though, Antrel Rolle is out injured and another factor could be the fitness of Dansby, the OLB, who is a decent pass rusher.

Their coach Dennis Green is a good coach and come close to big things in Minnesota. However, in Arizona he doesn't have the players of the same calibre. I can see a lot of changes on all sides of the ball and at the coaching level.

As for the Seahawks, what will we be looking for? Well, a win after the bye week would be nice. We don't seem to do it very often and I think we need one to keep the momentum rolling.

Despite the fact that our 2 starting wide receivers have been missing our passing game has remained strong with DJ Hackett and JJ stepping up and playing big roles, even Urban has made some big plays after being brought back off the street. Also Stevens seems to have finally woken up and shown why he was a 1st round pick.

Our running game is as solid as it normally is, sceptics may say that Alexander is running harder this year to earn a big contract, but as long as he punches in the touchdowns and makes some yards I'm not bothered!! I fully expect the offense to rack some points up this week, we have so many options and when all on the same page can be awesome, even playing at 50% I think they will be to much for the Arizona Defense.

Our Defense has done some good stuff this year, we are getting more pressure on the QB and are 2nd in the NFL with the amount of sacks we have. I think our CB's will be busy against the Cards as I think they will be throwing a lot. I hope Trufant picks his play up a bit as he is not the player he was last year, Dyson should be back this week also allowing Herndon to return to being the nickel back.

All in all I think we will win this, 31-10 seems about right.
