Seahawks v Giants

Week 12 - Sunday 27th September 2005

This game is live on Sky Sports Extra at 9:00pm.

Week 12 brings the New York Giants to Qwest Field, this could prove to be an interesting and tough game. The Giants are ranked 10th on offense and 23rd on defense.

Opponents under the Microscope

Their offense is a good balanced unit. At QB they have Eli Manning who is having a decent season with a QB rating of 81.4. However, he does seem to wobble a little under pressure and with a banged up O line this could be the key the game. With T Luke Petitgout questionable and other injuries on the O line it may also affect their running game. Tiki Barber is again proving to be a consistent threat on the ground. He so far has 967 yards and 6 TD's, his ability to keep the chains moving could be crucial. On their receiving front they have 3 big players, Plaxico Burress is a big target and has 6 TDs with 819 yards and is a real threat, along with his other Wide receiver Amani Toomer, another good target. Their best weapon in my opinion is the questionable TE Jeremy Shockey. He has 6 TD's this year and is maybe a little under used. He has the complete game, good hands and good blocking.

Their defense is decent if even a little under achieving. They have 2 very good DE's in Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora, they have 7.5 and 8 sacks and so are a real threat and our O line will have to be on their toes this weekend. With DT William Joseph out injured this may hurt their front 4 as they can be a dominant force. The weak link on could be the secondary. They seem to struggle a little against the deep pass. And with CB William Peterson out and S Shaun Williams doubtful, this really doesn’t help their cause!

Coach Tom Coughlin will get the best out of his guys, but people see him as more of a drill sergeant than a coach. At times he can expect too much from his players. The players often feel the wrath of the coach and sometimes they really don’t appreciate it. Coughlin has been known to fall out with several players throughout his coaching career.

Business as usual

To win this game, we just have to do what we have been doing. If SA can have an average game and gain another 100 yards this will make the Giants Defense stand off a bit and allow room for Hackett, Stevens and JJ to continue their impressive seasons. The Seahawks D are a much better than last season, and if we can continue to get to the QB, Manning will be unsettled and will make mistakes leading to another Seahawks victory and 6-0 at Qwest Field and 9-2 for the season.

28-16 Hawks victory.
