Seahawks v Raiders

Week 9 - Monday 6th November 2006

I’ll dispense with the shameless reminiscing about this fixture as I had hoped the Hawks would have been in much better shape as we enter this game but it is over 4 years since we've even played our old rival, going down 31-17 in the 2002 season opener.

The Seahawks will look to change that around and to change last week around after the relentless pounding Larry Johnson dished out last Sunday its about time Seattle dished out its own clock grinding performance.

The return of Pork Chop at LG might help facilitate that kind of performance. However, it is now questionable whether Shaun Alexander will return as team Doctors had yet to clear him for practice on 31 October. There is still time for the all clear to be given but Coach Holmgren doesn’t believe the return of #37 will fix the teams problems.

The problems lie with leagues 23rd ranked Defense. Kansas City managed 499 yards of Total Offense with a whopping 191 coming on the ground. The Hawks D have to get their opponents off the field on third down simple as. The Chiefs converted 6 of their 13 3rd downs & wore down the Seahawks defense.

What of the Raiders? With everyone openly sniggering at their awful start to the season they now have 2 wins on the trot under their belt & the confidence that goes with it. They put their home win over Pittsburgh down to two interception returns for TDs. Otherwise they are truly unremarkable team with no outstanding individuals.

Even without #37 the Hawks still have the tools to win this one. The combination of another decent performance by Seneca Wallace & a revitalised Defensive performance will win the day. Rest assured, should the team struggle the 12th man will help out. If the Hawks win the time of possession battle the game is theirs for the taking.

The game will air live in the UK at 1:30am in the early hours of Tuesday on Five but we can also compliment that coverage.

As ever, the game will be followed live in our exclusive Seahawkers UK chat room (no jeans or trainers please) where the properly attired are more than welcome.

Whilst there we like to listen to the radio coverage from the States www.thegamelive.com in the past the top link has been reliable.

There is also now a live streaming option for UK based fans with broadband via http://sports.yahoo.com/nflgamepass but this service has not been totally reliable so please check out the chat room first for further information.
