Seahawks Round Up – June
By Matt Cheesman

Out of the loop & want to catch up on all things Seahawk? Read on……………..

May ended with a great deal of excitement about the potential signing of Peter Boulware. To make cap room for the signing players had to be cut. As Bobby Taylor hadn’t been invited to Mini Camp it seemed logical to assume he was for the chop. The additional casualty - Koren Robinson - was met with a Frenzy of articles about his brushes with the law dating since his college days in 1998.

His release may not be such a problem as some might have anticipated. The Free Agent signings of Joe Jurevicius & Jerome Pathon were clearly meant to provide the team with a safety net in the event of Robinson being unable to stay out of trouble.

WR - Darrell Jackson That wasn’t the only problem with the teams receiving corp. Darrell Jackson (pictured left) decided to stay away from the voluntary part of both May & June Mini camps in protest over a minor Contract issue. Despite this Jackson is expected to attend Training Camp.

Bobby Engram is currently the second starter at WR having earned that position following recent Mini Camp performances. QB Seneca Wallace has really impressed this Offseason making a big improvement. His improvement has been so great that the team may not sign a Veteran to play as Hasselbecks #2.

There are currently eight players unable to participate in Mini Camp: S Ken Hamlin, CB Marcus Trufant, OG Steve Hutchinson (pictured right), DL Rashad Moore and Cedric Woodard, C Joey Hollenbeck, TE Ryan Hannam and WR Marque Davis. All are recovering from Off Season surgery & they are all expected fully rehabbed for Training Camp.

Another player absent from Mini Camp was Shaun Alexander. He has yet to sign his Franchise Tender for $6.32 Million. Negotiations can resume July 15 but don’t expect him in Camp straight away. The Franchise player traditionally turns up at the end of August.

You can also expect more news on Peter Boulware in Mid July. This is when he’ll be able to workout at full speed & have a chance to dispel the rumours about the state of his knee. Don’t expect this one to be resolved either; He's alleged to want $3 to 4 Million a season & with the Hawks having considerably less than that in Cap Room the team is unlikely to break the Bank for him.

Steve Hutchinson
Training Camp opens for Rookies on July 26 & Veterans July 29. As June closes the Hawks have signed two of their draft picks: 5th Rounder Jeb Huckeba & 7th Rounder Steve Neinhuis
