Who Are Yer?

We are the official UK Chapter of the Sea Hawkers Organisation

In a nutshell we are a devout bunch of NFL and Seattle Seahawks fans who currently reside on the right hand side of the Atlantic. If we had any sense we'd have chosen a team with a an Atlantic coastline but oh no that would have been too simple, we support a team with one foot in the Pacific.

Most of us are 20+ year veterans of Seahawks football but we are welcoming to both the younger and the 'slightly older' followers.

We are predominantly UK based although we also include members from Europe and indeed around the world. As you may note from above we are no rag tag outfit we are an official affiliate of the Sea Hawkers Booster Club.

The Sea Hawkers organisation exists to promote the Seattle Seahawks and it's fan base but also to make a contribution to the local community. As disparate as we are in the UK we have to settle for making contributions to UK charities and at the last count we have donated over £300 to 5 different charities thanks to the hard work and generous donations of our members.

As a number of Seahawks players run Foundations to help children we have concentrated to an extent on children's charities so far but members are encouraged to suggest valuable causes that we can make a contribution to.

That is the human side of what we do but at heart we are just a bunch of sports fans rooting for a team half way across the planet.

The website is not intended to be the last word in all things Seahawk but we do provide a preview and review of every game whilst from time to time providing interesting little articles much like the very one you are reading.

What we have managed to do by means of the message board and the game day chat room is to bring together Seahawks fans from around the country both online and in person. In addition we have built up a great relationship with members of US based Seahawks forums and they have been extremely helpful to us in a number of ways.

In the UK I've lost count of the number of meet ups we have had to watch the games when the Seahawks have been on Sky with people often travelling considerable distances to be there.

This season saw the first mass migration of UK Seahawks to Seattle with 15 members making the trip individually and in small groups before meeting up in Seattle for the victory over the Arizona Cardinals. The trip was enhanced by the friendships we have forged over the years through the Sea Hawkers organisation and especially with Neil Hart aka Kiltman (pictured above) who is one of the most recognised Seahawks fans around who organised a number of events over the weekend.

On a normal Sunday at game time you can find us in the Chat Room where most of us will be listening the game on the Seahawks Radio network where former Seahawks Steve Raible and Hall of Famer Warren Moon describe the action. To say that they have brought last minute drama to the UK over the last couple of years would be an understatement. By way of example this is how they described the Seahawks scoring 10 points to win the game inside the final minute of our game against the Cowboys in 2006: Cowboys Audio

If you are interested in joining us the best place to start would probably be the Message Board where you can be guaranteed a warm welcome. Obviously we'd be delighted if you were to part with a modest fee and become an official member of the UK Seahawkers but anyone is more than welcome and there is certainly no pressure to join.

We have only been going for 30 months and the progress we have made in that time has been nothing short of astonishing with over 70 members of the UK Sea Hawkers and 175 message board members from around the world.

What we hope to do is continue, to grow, to continue to make a difference in the UK with charity donations and most certainly to continue to support the Seattle Seahawks.
